Вправа 7. Поєднайте між собою частини складних речень відповідними сполучниками. Перекладіть речення українською мовою. (Зверніть увагу на те, що дія, виражена формою дієслова had V³, завжди передує іншій дії)

сполучники часу (коли)

1. they had dressed; they went to the dinner-party. 2. they talked; they had dined. 3. we lived here; the war had ended.

сполучники місця (де)

1. they rested; they stopped. 2. she put the book; the book usually lies. 3. we came to the house; he lived in. 4. I put the necklace in the drawer; I always keep the necklace.

сполучники умови (якщо)

1. he will go with us; we ask him. 2. all will be well; she arrives in time. 3. I shall buy the dictionary; I have money.

сполучники мети (для того щоб)

1. speak louder; I could hear you. 2. he stood aside; she passed.
3. I shall explain it again; you can understand it better.

сполучники причини (тому що)

1. it is late; I can’t stay any longer. 2. he ran fast; I could not overtake him. 3. she did it; she understood it. 4. everything was settled; he had paid money.

сполучники порівняння (як)

1. the time flew; a minute passed. 2. she patted the dog; it was her own dog. 3. he looked at her; he saw her for the first time.

головного і підрядного речення

В англійських складнопідрядних з’ясувальних реченнях поширене явище безсполучникового поєднання головного і підрядного речення, коли сполучникові слова: that — що,
what — який, who — хто, whom — кого, whose — чий, how — як, where — де, why — чому випускаються (крім тих випадків, коли сполучникові слова виконують функцію члена підрядного речення).
